Aside from manuscript development workshops, we offer additional editing & coaching services based on the same Amherst Writers & Artists method used in workshops. Each manuscript is given feedback in summary form based on what’s working, what is strong, where there are challenges, and structural improvement possibilities. Additionally, the writer will receive in-line and/or hard copy edits that offer suggestions for consistent voice, places where writing can be expanded or cut, and a general “clean up.” The editor will also conference with the writer about the suggestions that were made.
The basic rate is $25/hour. This might be a little more or less depending on where the author is in their revision process. Average reading and responding rate is 20 pages an hour, so, for example, a 300 page manuscript will be about $375 and will include coaching, prompts, and a phone conversation.
We will negotiate the work contract together.
