Gayle, I really like this story. Is this a new one? I'm so drawn in. The setting is alive; I'm right there with you.

Umm. Haunting. I really, the details of action and movement. A great foil for the stillness of waiting. And of course, I want to know what happened that surpassed even fear. Lovely!

Reading this, it all feels so dreamlike, but the last four lines just cut to the emotional core. Sea turtle ballet, gorgeous. The details of the man are so precise, I can see him in my mind without hesitation. Lovely job, thank you for sharing.

Oh, no, I wanted to hear more! Seems it's always "time," at the cliffhanger moment. I liked the narrator's good grip on the thoughts and language of a young girl, especially Lizzie's refusal of the room's name, "nursery." I also like the creepy squirrel as an entry in Lizzie's next adventure. Please post more soon!

Love. It. "Beaten down endorphins....acrid, voluptuous, libertine..." Such sensual, precise, and evocative words you chose! You have beautifully captured the essence of coffee. Seriously, this should be on every travel website that mentions Portland.

dreams filled with rainbow lines of the subway map...this city gets under my skin too thanks to this fabulous description filled with unforeseen images: the kid rave dancing to his own tunes, the latest Zitty, smelly, congested, churning, hard, high! Love it.

The colors are so vivid, the moment so perfect, the ending tell us so powerfully that we need to bask in each lovely now. You know? The narrator says it so beautifully while I stumble.
