The 1st Ten Pages Registration deadline May 27!
Two Saturdays: June 9 & 16 Time: 10am to 12:30pm Location: PDX Writers Studio in NE Portland, Hollywood area Cost: $110. $100 for previous 2018 Craft Workshop attendees. Contact Kim for details. Your first ten pages make a lasting impression on your reader - and carry a great responsibility. Here we establish setting, tone, pace, genre. In these few pages we offer the reader a taste of what is to come, hooking them through conflict, character, and stakes. This is not the place for saggy back story or long winded narrative. This is about action and getting your reader to jump in feet first. In this workshop we will share and rewrite our first 10 pages, using prompts to explore and deepen the opening and lay the groundwork for the story to come.
All writers must submit their 1st 10 pages in advance by Monday, May 28. ()
2,500 words max
12 pt Times New Roman
Submissions will be shared via email with all the writers in the group
All writers are required to read and respond to each piece. Further instructions regarding feedback will be emailed on May 29.
Looking for more? For an additional $55, Kim is offering 1hr one-on-one feedback of your opening pages. If that is of interest to you, please contact her to schedule an appointment after the workshop.
