Aside from manuscript development and revision workshops, we offer additional editing & coaching services based on the same Amherst Writers & Artists method used in workshops.
We offer three types of coaching/editorial services.
1 to 1 editing: The 1 to 1s are available for those who sign up for a Craft workshop and are offered at a discounted rate. Once writers sign up for the Craft workshop, they have the opportunity to schedule a conference with that workshop facilitator for a half hour. 1. 20 page manuscript review is $45 2. Brainstorming session is $35
Private coaching/consultation with Jennifer Springsteen Jennifer can also consult with you - with or without editing your manuscript - in order for you to gain clarity and direction about your project. This can be done on the phone or better yet, in person. Consultations are $60 an hour.
Manuscript editing with Jennifer Springsteen: Each manuscript is given feedback in summary form focusing on what’s working, what is strong, where there are challenges, and structural improvement possibilities. Additionally, the writer will receive in-line and/or hard copy edits that offer suggestions for consistent voice, chronological development, places where writing can be expanded or cut, and a general “clean up.”
Arrangements can be made to meet before beginning the editorial relationship, and I can also conference with the writer about the suggestions that were made and offer revision strategies for the next draft. (Private coaching above.)
For pieces 4,000 words or less, the basic rate is $45. If it is the first time we've worked together, you may send two typed, doubled spaced pages in 12 point font, Times New Roman as a .doc attachment. I will review and return with comments so you get a feel of how I edit and if it makes sense for us to work together.
For novella or novel length works, writers should send a 4,000 word sample, and I will review these pages for $40 and offer my comments. Those pages should be typed, doubled spaced pages in 12 point font, Times New Roman as a .doc attachment. You will receive a quote for the total word count after the initial review.
