Writing the Short Story

January 30, February 6, 13 & 20
with Jennifer Springsteen

Time: Our Online Studio Workshops on January 30, February 6, 13 & 20, 2022 are on Sundays from 2pm to 4pm
Participants work within our Online Classroom between workshops.
Location: Online Studio & Online Forum Site
Cost: $165

In each of our four weekly workshops, we'll write to prompts aimed to nudge our stories forward, expand our scenes, dialogue, and characters. There will be stories to read and videos to watch on the Online Classroom, and you'll have the opportunity to post your scenes and respond to the writing of others. The hope is that at the workshop's end you will be well on your way to completing the draft of your short story.

Remember that a story is always trying to get at the business of human nature, to tell us that this is what it's like to be a human being and this is how it feels. To do that we have to get below the surface. Below the action and down to the values and motivation. The important question that the story must ask is: Why? Not: What? - John Dufresne
